Anthony Lapwood (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Whakaue, Pākehā) is a fiction writer living in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, in Aotearoa New Zealand.

His debut story collection Home Theatre (Te Herenga Waka University Press, 2022) won the Hubert Church Prize for Fiction at the 2023 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards, and is a finalist in the 2023 Sir Julius Vogel Awards.

Anthony’s fiction has appeared in numerous publications and been anthologised in Middle Distance: Long Stories of Aotearoa New ZealandYear’s Best Aotearoa New Zealand Science Fiction and Fantasy, and Hiwa: Contemporary Māori Short Stories. He has a Master of Arts in Creative Writing through the International Institute of Modern Letters.

Anthony is available for public readings, interviews, class visits and other events and appearances.
